The DSP is still a very desirable effects box and is still quite capable of mind blowing results even without the more modern converters. The DSP is superior in that it can do much more than any H series unit is capable of including the ability of creating presets at the DSP programing level using it's built in DSP modules. Much of the H series units desire is it's bolder, thicker analog colored sound that many enjoy but may not always be desirable for every use.
There are plenty of ways to add the same kind of color with other outboard if it is really desired or required. DSP is old enough that it should be excepted that the LCD display or back light would soon need to be replaced if not done already. Since the more modern units use the same type of LCD display, it should not be an issue to have it replaced.
Nope, no where close, it also does not have the Pitch Shifting that the H has, if memory serves their was some diatonic shifting left out, and other stuff with the made rush to install around new sounds, I'd go with a or as they are the bomb, still have parts, serviceable and you'll dine out on them for years!
I believe it updated the OS to v2. Glad that was helpful. DSP and newer units are bit 96k capable bug got ugly looking to me. The conversion is really a moot point though. It's the sound of the combined DSP modules that gives an Eventide it's sound. If you're not after the thicker sound of the H family, you should look for an Orville. It's a clearer, modern sound but has the ultra shifter, VSIG capable and can be remote controlled if so equipped.
Totally different capabilities and sound. I like the Even bought two of them. They find a place in the mix very easily even if that means "less mojo" than a Ideally you'd own both as they are similar but different beasts.
Are you implying that the display that is currently being used in the H is not the same or will not work in other older Eventide units? Hm … my DSP with broadcast card has not only a H program bank but also tons of pitch shifting programs. What do you think was left out specifically from the H?
The new version of Eventide's stereo effects processor features four new effects modules, a host of new preset algorithms, and a number of enhancements to system performance.
The v. By modeling uniquely analog distortion types based on a proprietary curve-fitting process, the DynamicDistorition module produces characteristics that are highly responsive to the input signal. The Predictive Vocoder, meanwhile, generates a vocoder effect using a high-resolution physical model of the human vocal tract.
Power down the unit. Insert the Upgrade Card into the memory card slot on the front of the unit. While holding down the Upgrade key, power on the unit. Remove the Upgrade Card. The programming process is complete. Eclipse Upgrade Problem Resolution We have found that in some cases, people who have been successful in upgrading their Eclipse to versions 2.
If the symptoms are different, there is probably a different cause. You were able to upgrade but when powered up the unit froze, showing confused characters on the display. Confirm Bootloader Version If you have one of the above symptoms, confirm the bootloader version. You may want to reformat it in Eclipse, so that nothing is stored to it. Download file for the PC or for the Macintosh The instructions are the same for both a Windows PC or a Macintosh computer: 1 Unzip or Unstuff — for Mac folks the contents of the file and copy the files to the compact flash card.
