For example, a program that monitors system temperature and displays it in the notification area would need elevation to access the hardware, and it would need to be auto-run, yet security is moot a point for it. I disagree that running software like this is doesn't matter. I've used software just I agree with you that some software requires elevated privileges to run, but I disagree with you that running certain types of software at elevated levels doesn't matter.
From there you have access to any other software or service on that system at that privilege level. If not on that system, you can use that privilege level to pivot to another system on the network. Yes, obviously that can be abused, but that requires intentional abuse like you said you did.
I'm talking about trusted users and a trusted program. Regardless of how you feel about it, some programs require elevation. Ever since UAC, such programs that need to be auto-run have been a massive pain, and even ones that use a service or a scheduled task rarely work correctly and require all kinds of work-arounds to try to get working which just ends up as an EVEN BIGGER security issue. I think the task scheduler would be overkill imho. There is a startup folder for win7. Good luck! This will not work.
Windows will ignore Startup shortcuts set to run as Administrator. Have you tried? Because its working fine on my side. I have to auto-start my LogitechSoundManager as Administrator in order for the surround sound to work I have this problem too, even though the shortcuts in the startup folder have the option checked "run as administrator", they still won't load on startup.
Anyone know any ways to fix this? CyberShadow was right the UAC of the computer was off. StartUp shortcuts as admin does not work I found at least on Windows 10 this doesn't work.

Then I edited the program using Resource Hacker to modify its manifest so that administrator privileges were required to run this program.
This also made shortcuts under start up directories invalid. After that, I tried to add the program to the following location as well, but it did not work, either. The best way to do this and the only simple way if you not only want this to run with administrator privileges, but also without UAC prompts is by creating a scheduled task. With a scheduled task, you can specify which user you want to run it under and that it should run with the highest privileges.
This is probably what you really want because the check box button run as administrator in shortcut properties does trigger UAC prompts rather than really using an administrative user.
If you also specify a trigger as on user logon , it should have the same effect as using the startup or run key. Alternatively, you can use run as with the save credentials option to store the password of another user once and have it cached forever, but it does not work around UAC prompts as far as I know.

The System Configuration applet will open, click on the Startup tab. Under the Startup tab, a list of all the programs that are installed on your machine and configured to be run on startup will be listed.
Any program that you don't want it to load anymore on startup, simply uncheck the box beside that program's name. If later on you found your self that you need that program to load on startup, then you will have to check the box beside the application again. Also note that in single click you can disable all program that are listed inside the System Configuration and load at the startup of your Windows.
